News has emerged that the U.S. SEC’s crypto task force met with representatives from the Hyperliquid Foundation and TradeXYZ to discuss regulatory measures. According to a report by BloomingBit, the meeting involved detailed discussions on how to incorporate crypto and on-chain derivative markets into the regulated financial system.

Given the SEC’s history of prioritizing lawsuits against DeFi projects, this is a quite interesting shift. It suggests a move away from enforcement-led policies—which relied on legal pressure—toward collaborating with industry leaders to design practical rules. This doesn't seem unrelated to the recent signals from within the SEC regarding the introduction of an official regulatory package.

While integrating the on-chain derivatives market into a regulatory framework may cause short-term operational hurdles to meet guidelines, it creates a solid foundation for significant institutional capital inflows in the long run. Since Hyperliquid has stepped up to the table with regulators, it will be worth keeping an eye on how the DeFi regulatory framework takes shape. 😄
