An incident occurred where the administrative authority of the WEMIX$ contract, a stablecoin in the WEMIX ecosystem, was compromised. According to Cointelegraph, the attacker used the stolen authority to mint WEMIX$ without authorization, then swapped it for WEMIX, Ethereum, and USDT before withdrawing the funds. The total damage is estimated at approximately $5.22 million, and a portion of these funds has already been bridged to other chains and deposited into exchanges.

In response, the WEMIX team immediately suspended all bridges and related services. They officially announced that they are currently working with major centralized exchanges to conduct emergency recovery operations to freeze the stolen funds.

This incident is particularly painful because it stems from the most critical security failure—the theft of administrative privileges—rather than a vulnerability in the smart contract itself.
