An unexpected management dispute has emerged at Ondo Finance, a leader in the Real World Asset (RWA) market. Kathleen Allman, the mother of founder Nathan Allman—who passed away suddenly this past May—has filed a lawsuit in the Delaware Court of Chancery seeking the removal of current CEO Ian De Bode. According to reports from The Block and other outlets, the family claims that CEO De Bode assumed his position without board approval and that they intend to exercise management rights themselves through their inherited shares.

In response, CEO Ian De Bode has dismissed the lawsuit as a 'meritless claim' and stated that he will contest the matter in court. He particularly emphasized that prominent early investors such as Founders Fund, Coinbase Ventures, Tiger Global, and Wintermute, as well as the Ondo Foundation, continue to fully support the current management team.

As Ondo Finance is a symbolic project in the RWA ecosystem, this governance risk is bound to be highly sensitive for investors. While it is unlikely that operations will halt immediately, given the support from major venture capital firms behind the current management, the legal battle could potentially impact the credibility of products like USDY and OUSG if it drags on, so it is worth keeping a close eye on further developments.
