Global cryptocurrency exchanges appear to be undergoing major restructuring to align with regulatory and sanction standards. According to a recent report by Finance Magnates, Binance has decided to block transactions with a total of 16 cryptocurrency platforms, including HTX and EXMO, starting August 23, in line with U.S. and EU sanction criteria. At the same time, Upbit, the largest exchange in Korea, has added to the market's tension by announcing that it will terminate support for JasmyCoin trading as of September 14.
Rather than isolated incidents, this looks like a preemptive 'regulatory cleanup' trend by exchanges preparing for institutional integration. Binance's latest move, in particular, is interpreted as a strategy to solidify its reputation for regulatory compliance by actively participating in global financial sanctions. Both domestically and internationally, we are seeing a simultaneous movement to cut ties with high-risk assets and platforms that fail to meet regulatory standards.
Investors should be especially cautious about potential liquidity contraction moving forward. As regulatory guidelines tighten, we may see more frequent delistings of fringe altcoins and restrictions on fund transfers between certain platforms. It remains to be seen whether these efforts by exchanges to meet regulatory expectations will lead to a stronger market overall or result in temporary liquidity fragmentation.
