Oh, it's Tron this time! The U.S. is seeing its first push for a spot Tron ETF that directly provides staking rewards. According to the filing submitted to the SEC by asset manager Canary Capital, this TRX ETF is structured to go beyond simple price tracking and incorporate network staking rewards into the NAV. Considering that staking features were dropped in previous Ethereum and Solana ETF proposals due to regulatory hurdles, this is quite a bold and interesting challenge.
This seems like a clear signal of intent to provide regulated, yield-bearing products to institutional investors. Lately, the crypto market has been showing signs of bifurcation between institutional capital looking for safe yields within the regulatory framework and the existing native DeFi ecosystem. If this Tron ETF manages to pass the approval threshold, it could set a trend where adding staking becomes the norm for other altcoin ETFs. I'm really curious to see how the SEC will handle this reward-incorporation structure.
