Circle is migrating Injective's USDC to USDC.inj, the official standard compatible with over 20 blockchains. Replacing the existing Noble-based USDC, this change will see approximately $100 million in stablecoin liquidity flow directly into the Injective ecosystem.

This standardization is significant as it unifies on-chain liquidity that was previously fragmented across multiple chains. By eliminating the hassle and friction of bridging, it is expected to significantly enhance trading and lending liquidity within the DeFi ecosystem.

The timing is particularly excellent, as Injective is set to introduce institutional-grade Real World Asset (RWA) infrastructure via the Meridian mainnet upgrade scheduled for September 24th. The addition of ample, official USDC liquidity to a multi-VM technology stack aimed at a regulatory-compliant environment is likely to be a positive signal for attracting institutional capital.

While centralizing liquidity will certainly help boost the ecosystem, it is also a trend toward deeper reliance on a specific stablecoin standard. It will be interesting to monitor the actual inflows and changes in on-chain metrics. haha
