On the claim that the crypto ecosystem is becoming centralized again
I often see people saying that decentralization is collapsing as institutions pour into the crypto market lately, but I think we need to look at it with some nuance.
Because having entities with large holdings is a different issue from the network itself becoming centralized.
For instance, even if institutions hold large amounts of Bitcoin, that doesn't mean they can arbitrarily change the rules of the Bitcoin network.
Of course, we should look separately at areas like Ethereum staking, where validator operations or voting power could be concentrated in certain entities.
The official Ethereum documentation also discusses the risks of operator centralization that occur when assets are concentrated in staking pools.
Personally, I believe that when determining whether crypto is becoming centralized, we should prioritize looking at who actually controls the network over simple asset holdings.
