TextDet, an OCR app that pulls text out of your photos
If you take photos of receipts or notices, you often end up having to type them out later when you need the information. Storing photos and actually extracting the content within them are two different things.
TextDet is an Android app that reads text from photos, scans, and screenshots and turns it into editable text. According to the official documentation, recognition is processed locally on your device, and no images or recognized text are uploaded to any servers.
Read, edit, and retrieve
You can manually edit recognized text, organize scans with tags, and search by keyword. The ability to export results to TXT or Markdown is also included in the free version. The default recognition engine supports Korean as well. It also features no ads, no account registration, and no daily recognition limits.
Multi-page documents in Pro
Features like merging multiple pages into a single document, importing full PDFs, and exporting searchable PDFs, Word, or CSV files are included in the paid TextDet Pro. The current US list price is a one-time purchase of US$5.99, with regional pricing varying by country.

However, 'on-device recognition' doesn't mean there is absolutely no network communication. The official documentation separately explains communication related to diagnostic information for Google components and verification of paid purchases.
This is a tool worth checking out if you often need to turn text from photos into notes or reference material. Since blurry or tilted photos might result in errors, it is good practice to double-check amounts, dates, and names against the original.
