The Ethereum Foundation has set a Q4 target for the mainnet launch of its next-generation Glamsterdam upgrade and has launched Platåberget, a public testnet for rigorous validation. This testnet was established to pre-check the impact of key features being introduced in Glamsterdam and to ensure network stability.

The most anticipated changes in this upgrade are the introduction of ePBS, which separates proposer and builder roles in the consensus layer, and the application of block-level access lists. This is a process of laying the technical groundwork to eventually expand the gas limit to 200 million. As a major change expected to significantly improve perceived Ethereum performance, builders and the community are keeping a close eye on the testnet results.
