Visa Unveils VSP Stablecoin Platform — Eyeing Regulatory Grace Period

With U.S. regulators missing the deadline for the final rules of the GENIUS Act, a regulatory gap has emerged. Financial giants are moving very cleverly to take advantage of this. Visa has officially unveiled its enterprise stablecoin platform, VSP, and announced support for 'Open USD (OUSD).' Due to this delay, the actual enforcement of the legislation has been pushed to January 2027. For companies, rather than just waiting around, this provides a perfect grace period to test their risk management capabilities within the secure 'VSP beta testbed' that Visa has set up. Of course, domestic companies like Samsung and K-Bank, whose names were listed as partners, are maintaining a cautious stance, stating that it was 'merely an expression of interest without binding force.' There is still too much regulatory uncertainty to jump into commercialization immediately. However, it seems the quiet battle among global financial firms to secure market dominance before the regulatory era kicks in fully in 2027 has already begun. It’s quite interesting to see how major corporations are using this regulatory gap as a testbed. haha
