According to his family, the deceased passed away on August 10, 2026, at the age of 81 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He had undergone surgery for pancreatic cancer two years ago and continued treatment, but his health reportedly declined rapidly after the cancer recurred early this year.

While his name may not be immediately familiar, he was a face recognizable to the public at first glance. From the 1970s through the 1990s, he appeared in over 300 works, including the dramas 'Eyes of Dawn' and 'Sandglass,' as well as the 'Two Cops' film series and 'The Taebaek Mountains.' He was a true scene-stealer who filled dramas with realism and tension by playing a variety of roles behind the main leads, such as detectives, officials, and ordinary citizens.
