The Korea Consumer Agency recently announced the results of a quality comparison of seven popular carbon-plate running shoes currently on the market. The study included flagship models from Nike, New Balance, Adidas, Asics, Puma, Hoka, and Skechers. While all models were confirmed to provide excellent propulsion, there were distinct differences in detailed performance and price. The Asics model was the lightest, while the Nike and Puma models showed superior shock absorption. In terms of price, the Skechers model was the most affordable at around 180,000 KRW, while the Hoka model was the most expensive at around 270,000 KRW.
However, what has really become the talk of the town among runners alongside this report is a warning from Olympic marathon gold medalist Coach Hwang Young-jo. Through his YouTube channel, Coach Hwang expressed concern over the trend of beginner runners, who may lack sufficient ankle strength, blindly jumping into carbon running shoes. He stated that no matter how good a shoe is, it can actually do more harm than good if it doesn't match the wearer's skill level, even going so far as to say he wouldn't recommend them to beginners even if he were paid to.
Because the carbon fiber plate embedded in these shoes generates strong propulsion, it also places significant stress on the ankles and Achilles tendons. Beginners who haven't built up enough muscle strength can easily suffer from ankle rolls or joint strain when wearing shoes with high elasticity and thick soles. Since running is meant to improve your health, now is the time to prioritize choosing stable running shoes that match your physical capabilities and running form rather than just looking for the flashiest gear.

The reason actor Jang Dong-yoon has suddenly caught the public's eye is due to fellow actor Lee Yoo-jin's wedding announcement. As Lee announced his marriage to actress Cha Kyung-eun this coming November, a unique family connection has been revealed, making the two men brothers-in-law.
The link in this special relationship lies in the sisters. Cha Kyung-eun's older sister is actress Kim Seung-yeon, who is set to marry Jang Dong-yoon on October 10th. Jang and Kim grew close after working together on the drama 'The Tale of Nokdu' and an independent film directed by Jang, eventually becoming a couple. With the younger sister, Cha Kyung-eun, set to tie the knot with Lee Yoo-jin on November 14th, the unique scenario is complete: two actors born in 1992 will become husbands to sisters just one month apart.
It is extremely rare in the entertainment industry for fellow actors to become part of the same family, let alone brothers-in-law. Their paths are even more remarkably similar, as both are not only actors but have also directed their own short films, adding to the public's curiosity. With this double celebration, many are offering warm and humorous congratulations to the two actors, looking forward to seeing their family chemistry in the future.

The friendly match against Uzbekistan held at Yongin Mireu Stadium on October 6 will be remembered as a day that set a new milestone in South Korean football history. The national team secured a valuable 2-0 victory over Uzbekistan under interim manager Roberto Moreno. The star of the match was undoubtedly captain Son Heung-min. With a brilliant free-kick goal just 6 minutes into the first half, he scored his 59th career international goal, finally surpassing the 58-goal record held by Cha Bum-kun for the most goals in South Korean men's football history.
Behind this historic goal was an interesting backstory. As Son stepped up for the free kick, Lee Kang-in approached him and quietly suggested that he should aim low. Son followed this advice, and the low-driven ball passed right under the defensive wall and into the net. Having gained momentum, the national team sealed the win in the 60th minute when Oh Se-hun connected with a powerful header from a cross by Song Min-kyu, who had been substituted on for Lee Kang-in.
However, there was a dark side to the joy of victory. Kim Min-jae, the core of the defense, was completely excluded from the matchday squad. It is interpreted as the result of extreme fatigue accumulated since the Venezuela match on October 2, as well as the aftermath of his actions when he was substituted off—throwing his boots and making comments pointing out the lack of defensive contributions from the attackers. While the team achieved a brilliant milestone, it was a match that left behind a heavy assignment: how to reconcile the physical strain of key players and lingering internal psychological conflicts.
