The Glamsterdam upgrade, a new milestone for Ethereum, will be applied to the Sepolia testnet on October 6 at 2 PM KST. The most notable aspects of this upgrade are the introduction of ePBS (Ethereum-native Proposer-Builder Separation) and block-level access lists. In particular, there is significant community interest in this test, as plans are in place to increase the gas limit to 200 million to measure performance changes and boost network throughput.
The interesting part is that this is not a mandatory application, but a test that requires voluntary coordination among validators. Since the default settings for major consensus clients like Prysm or Teku are fixed at the existing 60 million gas, validators must manually change their settings to reach the 200 million gas limit. It will be worth watching how smoothly the development team and the validator ecosystem can synchronize ahead of the mainnet launch.
